September Early Finisher Activities

Filed Under: Fall Leave a Comment

Ah, September!! The month with built in charm and enchantment! From beautiful falling leaves, little acorns adorning the sidewalks and the anticipation of Autumn so close you can almost taste it! Celebrating seasonal shifts like this in the primary classroom makes September feel cozy but most importantly exposes little learners to what’s actually happening in the outside world. Fall crafting is usually the star of the show, but I feel there’s also a seat at the table for early finisher activities! And this engaging September set is packed with tons of charm and Autumnal feelings.

September Early Finisher Fun Packet

In this September resource, early finishers get to journey through a collection of fun pages! What exactly is a “fun” page? well, it’s just exactly what it sounds like – an activity page that brings in an element of creativity and “fun” – puzzles, mazes, coloring, word searches, drawing, tracing! Pages that feel low stakes for students but are still stimulating fine motor muscles and challenging their brains in a different way. And if you peek closely, you might notice some picture vocabulary – this is very intentional! I want students to gain exposure through these little critters activities! Just imagine… students are working and thinking/inferring Wolf is at the festival bobbing for apples.

The September early finisher resource includes 72 pages! I LOVE options and with this many you’re able to build one packet for the month and or try out smaller weekly packets! It’s really what works best for your schedule and students. For me, a mini packet is way too much fun to pick out page for because I love themes. I also think this option is great for a more structured early finisher activity.

No matter HOW you use the September early finisher pages, I truly hope your students enjoy them, feel challenged and inspired!

An example for a structured mini packet would look like:
– pick a handful of pages with a theme (like the festival)
– include a color page & word find (your picture word anchors)
– at the start of the week unveil the packet & go over picture words
– have students do a picture walk to see if they can find any words
– you could build comprehension here by asking some questions

It’s brief, it’s simple, it’s fun but it adds extra value to what students will be doing for their early finisher activity.

My students are loving these. I put about 7 or 8 in a packet for the week and if they finish they can work on it. They love the variety and are excited to do them. – Marisa V. via TPT

They’re beautiful and really helpful! I use them for extra work when my students finish early or to start our fall unit. Tysm for making these resources – Paola M. via TPT
