September Musings: Kindergarten Classroom Activities

Filed Under: Fall Leave a Comment

Falling into September with all the cozy pre-fall things on my mind – apples, acorns and leaves. One of my favorite ways to bring excitement to the month is adding in seasonal elements with books, manipulatives, special activities and of course, crafts! A homemade student craft hanging on the wall just adds some instant cheer. And who can resist a cozy Autumn setting of a picture book? Because, I sure can’t!

Details: Apple Life Cycle / Sept. Fun Packet / Humble Pie
Acorn Jellycat / Tracing Calendar / Fall Math Mats

September Musing

  • A classic, Apple Life Cycle – it’s what instantly pops into my head when I hear September + it activates my apple cider donuts cravings.
  • September Early Finishers Packet – The fall elements make this set extra whimsical with little mushrooms and scattered leaves. This set has 70 fun style activity pages to last the month. They also secretly expose littles to picture vocabulary while being creative & puzzling.
  • If you like displaying books and buddies, Kohl’s has the Humble Pie hardback picture book and matching plushie for $5.99 each – such a great deal as part of their Kohl’s Care program!
  • And speaking of a buddies… LOOK at this sweet new acorn Jellycat! I have the older acorn version and just think this new duo version is too precious for a fall bookshelf. Nordstrom offers it with free shipping and no minimum spend.
  • Calendar Tracing – this activity is part of my new craft topper & writing resource that has a variety of unique handwriting practice opportunities. I think the tracing calendar & craft is just a special way to welcome the month in kindergarten!
  • Bringing the seasonal shift to centers through graphics and manipulatives is always a fave. It also makes switching centers more exciting. These two apple mats are among 200 mats in my Fall Math Mat pack. (I promise it’s not 200 pages of Apples – they’re mixed autumnal themes) There’s also a variety of core Kindergarten math skills included to meet ya where you need it. Skills feature: representing, sums, differences, comparing, ordering and some data mixed in.
